Author Interview- Kristina Hall

Hey guys and welcome to our first ever social shoutout! Today, we are with Kristina Hall, author of the Moretti Trilogy! (Speaking of! Slip on Over to Pithy Perspectives and catch the book review I did of her trilogy book one!)  I was really excited for this interview and I hope you are too!

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I can’t really name a certain day when I decided I’d like to be a writer, but I’ve been a huge reader for a long time, and I’ve always loved stories. So I suppose it’s only natural that I started wanting to write. I toyed around with the idea of writing fiction for a while, but about four years ago, I began my first novel (which will never be published), and I’ve taken writing seriously ever since.

What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?

I typically have two blocks of time where I either write or edit. If I edit during the afternoon, I’ll write after supper, but sometimes, I’ll write first and edit later.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

I don’t know how interesting this one is, but I despise writing when someone else is in the room with me. 🙂

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

My inspiration comes from a ton of places. Current events, bad books, good books, hymns, verses, everyday life … basically anything.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Edit. Just kidding. 🙂 When I’m not writing or editing, I like to read, lift weights, arm wrestle, and spend time with my family.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

That way too much research is required to give your characters cars in the 1920s. I should’ve made them all walk 🙂

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I’m currently working on my twenty-first, and I’ve published seven of those. Six will never, ever be published, but I still had lots of fun (for the most part) writing them. As for my favorite … How can I choose? They’re all different, and I love (and hate) different things about each one of them. So I’m going to weasel out of giving an answer to that 🙂

What is the first book that made you cry?

This one’s got me stumped! I can’t remember. And that makes it sound like I cry over every book I read (which I don’t).

What do you think makes a good story?

Relatable characters and an exciting/entertaining plot.

Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?

To continually be improving in your writing—write a ton and read a ton. To keep your perspectives straight—use your writing to glorify God and trust Him with it.

Anything you would like to say to my readers?

Thanks so much for checking out this part of the blog tour!

And thanks so much, Sherrice, for having me on your blog!
