Author Interview- R.A. Rooney

Hello my lovelies! I have another author I want to introduce you to. R.A. is an author with quite a few books on the line up that I have had the privilege of beta reading.

R.A. Rooney is a small business owner who loves the Lord Jesus. She is the author of almost 30 books and loves sharing her works with others. Apart from writing, she loves crocheting, reading, playing the piano, going for walks, and spending time with friends. R.A. hopes she can inspire other writers to share their books for the Glory of God.

Im excited for you to get to hear from her, so lets jump right in!

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

I believe I was in my early teens, although I did write some little stories (aka, romance) when I was a lot younger! It’s not recommended. 😉

What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?

This is kind of hard to answer because this past year I’ve had my first official job and I wasn’t really writing that much because I was kind of on a break. I often have writer’s block, so I end up doing other hobbies. But this summer I’ve started writing a bunch more!

I’m a part time teacher aid for 4-year-olds at a Christian school. So usually I get home around 1 – that gives me the afternoon to do other things! 🙂

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

Probably laughing at my own characters! Haha!

Or..making facial expressions (on my own face) for my characters as I write about them!

Where do you get your inspiration for your books?

The book I’m working on now is set in the Robin Hood times. I think I got the inspiration from Amanda Tero, because I believe she wrote a Robin Hood retelling one time! Plus I thought up a fun twist that would make the story even more interesting! 😉

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I have a small business in which I try to sell crochet items and I also design crochet patterns! 🙂 I also enjoy playing the piano, taking walks, and reading!

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

That I actually wrote a book! Every time I finish a book, I’m always so amazed that I did it. Like, this story is literally mine and I thought of all of it! Haha!

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

I’ve written 29 books, which includes short stories (which I have a lot of). I believe my favorite is either Winter Wonderland or Mark of the Arrow 🙂

What is the first book that made you cry?

I think I teared up when I was writing Miss Novelist. I don’t tend to cry when I write my books (and even when I’m reading..), but I do feel emotional at some points!

What do you think makes a good story?

Lots of good, in-depth characters and bringing in the Salvation message! ❤

Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?

Take it nice and slow! And find some author friends that you can befriend and get some pointers from!

Great answers R.A! I greatly appreciated hearing from you and I hope our readers do to!
